Blog Income Reports That Might Help
When I was starting out blogging, I loved seeing income reports from other bloggers! It was really encouraging to see how they were making money, leaving their jobs, and getting to stay at home with a flexible schedule. And, that's why I share my income reports now from time to time.
If you're interested in seeing my reports, you can check out the links below. I really break things down so you can see what percentage of my income comes from what.
These reports will show you exactly how I earn money from blogging. To get your wheels turning below are four ways to monetize your blog.
Sponsorships are when companies pay you a certain amount in exchange for promoting their products or services. For example, you might write a blog post or social media posts that are sponsored by the company. There are a couple of options for finding these opportunities.
Find a middle man - There are intermediary companies that you can work with to find sponsorship posts. They work to find both bloggers and companies and match them together.
Contact companies - I have seen a ton of bloggers have success with this strategy. Find companies that you would like to work with and contact them to see if they would be interested in sponsoring content for you. Let them know how much you enjoy their product and that you know your readers would as well.
The one thing to remember is that companies are usually looking to work with bloggers that have a larger following. That means if you are just getting started this probably isn't your best options just yet.
2. Ad revenue
People seem to have a love-hate relationship with ads. This income revenue is simply placing ads on your website. When you are all set up every new pageview that you get will count towards the overall number that you'll be compensated for at the end of the payment period.
Some people hate ads. As a consumer, I totally get it. But, on the flip side, I've found that ads can be really helpful when you are trying to start earning money as a blogger. Ad revenue companies generally have a threshold you have to meet in order to join, but it's usually lower than other income revenue options. Ad revenue is usually one of the first ways that bloggers monetize their blogs.
Personally, as a blogger, I love ads! This was how I first started making money from my blog. And, it even brought in the money I needed to buy my first microphone. It allowed me to make that investment without dipping into my family budget.
And, if you've been wondering how to make passive income on your blog this is an easy way to get started. Your ads work to bring money in for you even if you're asleep. You can check out my favorite ad networks here.
3. Affiliate income
Affiliate income is when you work with a company to promote a product or service that they have. However, unlike sponsorships where you make a set amount of money, you make a percentage off of their sales. Here's how it works:
You sign up with a company that has products and services you feel good about recommending.
You write a blog post or social media post and include the customized link to the company website.
When your readers click on the link they are taken to the site.
If your reader makes a purchase, you receive a percentage of the sale.
Most of the bloggers I know have affiliates that they work with. But this is another option that you can't usually start on day one because you need readers on your site that will click your affiliate links.
Most affiliates also have a stipulation that you have to make your first affiliate sale with X number of days. Amazon Affiliates works this way. If you don't make a sale before the deadline your account is disabled. The good news is you can sign up again, but it means you are doing the work twice. So, make sure you pay attention to those little details when getting started with affiliates.
4. Sell products
The last strategy I'm going to share with you is selling products on your blog. This allows you to monetize your brand, intelligence, and talents. The ideas on how to make money with passive income in this area are endless! You can create eBooks, workbooks, online courses, graphic design work, printables, or pretty much anything else.
If you're really looking to grow your blogging business this is the way to do it in the modern blogging world. If you look at my income reports you'll see while there are different sources of income, my products are a huge part of it.
Diversify your income streams
I think it's important to work on diversifying your income streams. You might want to start with just one idea but work on getting to the point where you have a mix of several.
I go into more detail about how I diversify my income streams and protect myself from income fluctuations throughout the year in this post. This really helps me make money blogging consistently!
If you look at the income reports of most, maybe even all, successful bloggers you'll see they have multiple ways to make money.
