Starting a blog and want to know which ad network to use? I've been with multiple companies and I'm spilling my secrets for making money online with the right company!
Pssssttt...I run a series called Ask Allison where I answer readers' questions about blogging and business. You can ask yours by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. This post is for the question, "Which ad network should I use?" Click below to watch!
One of the most popular questions I get is, “Who should I use to place ads on my site?” Well, I’m spilling my secrets today.
First and foremost, let's talk about the difference between the image ads you could potentially place on your site.
There are PPC (pay per click) and CPM (cost per one thousand impressions) ads. You obviously receive a certain amount each time someone clicks on an ad with PPC ads. You are paid with CPM ads based on the number of pageviews a certain ad receives. I recommend CPM ads because it’s a lot harder to get people to actually click on ads nowadays!
Ad Network Recommendation for New Bloggers
I highly recommend Sovrn for new bloggers. They don't currently have a minimum monthly pageview requirements and their earnings were higher than the leading competitor. In fact, I've been with a total of four different networks and this far outperformed its peers.
Ad Network Recommendation for Established Bloggers
I highly, highly recommend AdThrive if you're an established blogger with at least 100,000 pageviews/month.
There is a waiting list but trust me, they are worth it! My earnings with this network outperformed everyone else (including other networks with minimum page view requirements!) and their incredible customer service is just the cherry on top.
Regardless of who you go with, make sure you use ads with caution. You never want to place so many ads on your website that your content disappears in the background. Shine attention on your services and products first. Always.
